How To Birth The Kingdom of God

“After this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10).

After acknowledging and hallowing God as Father, the very first request to be made is “Thy Kingdom Come.” This sets a template for every other thing that follows. But unfortunately, most believers reverse this order, putting the cart before the horse.

The Lord Jesus Christ came, bearing upon His shoulders the government of Heaven, to install it on earth. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). No one can give a peace that he does not have. Only the Prince of Peace can save a chaotic world.

The world is trapped in a system out of which it cannot salvage itself. Almost everybody today wishes for a change in the affairs of this world, but this change must be patterned after another government that is superior to what obtains in the world.

The American government cannot be the template for the Nigerian government because it too is subject to higher governments. Only the government of Heaven can save the world’s system. And that government is trapped inside every true believer in Christ. Luke 17:20-21 says, “And when He was demanded of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, He answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

The challenge now is how to birth it into the world around us.
We can birth into manifestation the kingdom of God that is within us through:

1. Total submission to the will of God in our own lives, so that Christ can freely live through us (Acts 4:13; Galatians 2:20)

2. Absolute obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 10:7-8; Mark 16:15-16)

3. Demonstrating the love and power of Christ to the world around us (Matthew 5:15-16)

4. Participating in developing our society (Acts 9:36-39)

5. Praying for our leaders (Romans 13:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:1-2) etc.

Until Christ in us is given an expression beyond the walls of the church into the world around us, we all will continue to be victims of the corrupt systems of the dark kingdom that rules the world (Job 9:24; 1 John 5:19).

We must stop monopolizing Christ as if all He came to do was just for us and our families and churches/ministries/denominations alone. He came to save the world. That world is dying all around us every day. It is getting worse. If we don’t let Christ in us change it now, it will be worse by the time our children are adults and may be too tough for them to handle. Let your daily prayer and passion become, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
God bless you.
